Scott Rocklage is newest investing member to 5AM Ventures. He joined the company in the year 2003. Rocklage had known the first founding members Carin Mueller, Andy Schwab, and John Diekman for over 15. So, when he got the opportunity to invest in the company he did not hesitate. And the three were also more than happy to welcome home to the company. Scott Rocklage brought with him a wealth of experience, over three decades of experience in the industry.
Scott Rocklage is a respected leader within the healthcare industry. He is passionate about advancing the industry so that there can be treatment available for every other disease. During his career life, he has successfully overseen the approval of three drugs by FDA. This drugs include Cubicin, Teslascan and Omniscan. He has also invented and co-invented over 30 patents. Additionally, he has authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications.
Before joining 5AM Ventures, Scott Rocklage worked at Cubist Pharmaceuticals, a company that he had co-founded in the year 1994. He was the president and CEO of the company until the year 2003. Prior to working at Cubist, he worked for Nycomed Salutar. He worked for the company from the year 1990 to the year 1992. For the first two years, he was the President and CEO of the company. In the year 1992, the board voted him to be Chairman of the company and what Scott knows.
As for his education, Dr. Scott Rocklage studied at the Berkeley based University of California. He graduated from the University with a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry. He later attended the Massachusetts Institute of technology, graduating with a doctorate in Chemistry. During his time at MIT, he conducted his research in the Nobel Prize winning Richard R. Schrock laboratory.
Scott Rocklage is passionate about helping other people. He and his wife Patty Rocklage find joy in impacting the lives of their communities. To date, Dr. Rocklage has raised over $500 million to aid in the advancement of the healthcare industry. Recently, he and his wife pledged $225,000 to go towards build nanochemistry and nanotechnology labs in MIT and Scott of Website.
